We did it! Thanks to everyone for their generousity and assistance with Bonneville Backpack Project. SDES, in partnership with Target, donated over 60 stuffed backpacks and school supplies
to assist families that are not able to afford the supplies that their child needs to be successful.
In early August, members of the SDES, Target personnel and Bonneville teachers got together and assembled the backpacks. The completed backpacks and school supplies were transported to Bonneville Elementary School. Backpacks were presented to students on August 20, the first day of class. The Backpacks included crayons, tissues, pencil, paper, folders, hand wipes, pencil boxes and much more. Each backpack was filled to capacity. The students were very excited with their new backpacks. In addition, the Bonneville Elementary School teachers' were thankful for the extra supplies SDES provided for their classrooms.
I would like to express my gratitude for your collection and donation of backpacks and school supplies, said Meg King, Bonneville Elementary counselor. Your generosity is overwhelming and make an exciting and stress-free beginning to the new school year for some families in need.
Special thanks to SDES Council members, Tricia Tomeu (Career Services) and Jessica Falco (Student Union) for coordinating this special and important event.
