Students Served Three-course Meal

Memory Mall is a sight to see any day of the week at UCF, but it was filled to capacity on February 9, 2017 for the first-ever UCF Gather Luncheon. More than 550 students were served a free three-course meal, thanks to a collective effort from nearly a dozen departments from the Division of Student Development and Enrollment Services and food partners UCF Dining Services, Coca-Cola, Pita Pita and Chicken Salad Chick.

Stress Relief with Therapy Dogs

Students were invited to take a break from the demands of the semester, and stop by Counseling and Psychological Services to play with fun, friendly therapy dogs. It is known that the human-animal bond can relieve stress, anxiety and depression, as well as improve mood. Furthermore, this event is intended to increase visibility/accessibility of CAPS on campus and decrease the stigma of mental health services.

UCF scientists received almost $1.3 million in state funds Wednesday to research the Zika virus with the goal of understanding its effects on human health and developing a vaccine for the mosquito-borne illness.

The funding was part of Gov. Rick Scott’s authorization of $25 million in state funds to develop better testing and prevention for the mosquito-borne virus that authorities say has infected almost 5,000 people in the U.S. and

UKnighted

SDES was created May 1998 when Student Affairs and Enrollment and Academic Services merged. In July 1998, the UKnighted Newsletter was established as a vehicle of communication to all employees of SDES and the UCF community. The UKnighted Newsletters are monthly publications that highlight various activities and items of interest within the SDES Division.

May 2009 was the last monthly UKnighted newsletter and the UKnighted is now only be printed every semester. Current SDES news articles are placed continually on this site. For a history of UKnighted newsletters and other publications, visit the SDES Archive.
