AmeriDisability’s Magazine featured a special conversation piece with Sport Clubs and Adaptive Recreation Coordinator, Andrea Snead. With more and more schools beginning to recognize the importance of providing adaptive sports for their students, AmeriDisability chose to sit down with one of UCF’s RWC Coordinator to discuss what the university is doing to be more inclusive in their recreational programs.

In the conversation with AmeriDisability, Andrea Snead talked about seeing students that wanted to participate in activities with the Recreation and Wellness Center, but the access or adaptations were not there, but also understood that UCF had the ability to provide such resources for them. She states that, “we are able to expose them to sports they’ve seen or participated in and again, we have that ability to make that happen so why not UCF.” Andrea also furthered discussed her goals with expansion of the program with adding programs such as having a wheelchair basketball and a wheelchair tennis team by next Fall.

Andrea also talked about the RWC continuously adding inclusion into the fabric of their identity and everyday routines, stating that the RWC has received a plethora of positive feedback regarding the Adaptive and Inclusive Recreational Program.
