Thursday, February 1st marks the beginning of the Black History Month celebrations at the University of Central Florida and the Division of Student Development and Enrollment Services. Events will be taking place throughout the month highlighting various historical moments and current movements. These are wonderful opportunities for students, faculty, and staff, to learn about the issues that black students face and engage in celebrating the cultures represented by this community. The Opening Ceremony kicks off the Month on Thursday the 1st from noon to 2 p.m. at the Student Union Key West Ballroom. Join the Black Student Union at the Black Panther movie premiere on the 16th at the Waterford Lakes Theater from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.. Celebrating our students’ successes, the Dr. John T. Washington Scholar Award Ceremony takes place on the 19th from noon to 2:00 p.m. in the Pegasus Ballroom. Click here for a flyer containing a full list of events.
