Students engage with employers during a mock career fair as part of Countdown to Career Expo.

This week’s Career Expo gives UCF students and alumni the opportunity to meet with employers face-to-face to discuss career opportunities. More than 2,000 Knights will ascend upon the Addition Financial Arena to meet with representatives from over 200 employers. Prior to the big event, UCF Career Services hosted a week-long Countdown to Career Expo, allowing students the opportunity to hone their skills through workshops, resume critiques, and even a mock career fair.

On Monday, students were invited to attend a Lunch and Learn with Naomi Lampkin, Talent Acquisitions Specialist at Enterprise. Ms. Lampkin spoke about getting the most out of your career fair experience, perfecting your elevator pitch, and making a positive first impression with employers. Later in the day, Cintas and BSU hosted a Dress for Success Workshop.

Later in the week, Career Services hosted a mock career fair with multiple employers. This exercise allowed students to practice meeting with employers and making the best possible case for themselves as potential employees.

One employer commented, “It was a really good way to give insight to students and break the ice before they are in front of employers [at career expo].  Career Services did an awesome job! Everyone I spoke to said ‘I didn’t know what to expect’. I explained that most of the time they will see someone from Talent Acquisition before meeting with a hiring manger.  They [the students] should just show who they are and tell their story.”

The Career Expo will take place on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Addition Financial Arena.
