The Iota Rho Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, in collaboration with NAACP and the African Student Organization, hosted Sleep Out for the Homeless last month at Lake Claire.

Nickalos Wise, a Criminal Justice Student and President of the Iota Rho Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma helped organize the event at which 75 lunch bags were packed with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a granola bar, and a bottle of water.

The fraternity reached out to the UCF community through social media, soliciting the help of more than 40 UCF students. The volunteers also prepared 50 hygiene kits, consisting of soap, lotion, deodorant, Band-Aids, a toothbrush and toothpaste.

Iota Rho traveled to downtown Orlando to distribute the kits to homeless men and women, donating the remaining kits to the Orlando Union Rescue Mission.
