On September 17th, the University of Central Florida kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with a celebration in front of Millican Hall commemorating the recognition of UCF as a Hispanic Serving Institution — over 25% of UCF students are Latino. Guest speakers and students alike spoke at the event. National Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15th and ends on October 15th. UCF is celebrating the Latino community on campus with a variety of activities designed to provide a range of cultural experiences and educational opportunities for participants. Events and descriptions are listed on the Office of Diversity and Inclusion’s website. Several unique programs include Maria: One Year Later, Defending Our Dreams, and Mi Familia (My Family). The closing ceremony, Noche Latina, will take place on October 15th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the Pegasus Ballroom.
