The UCF’s Recreation and Wellness Center has dozens of programs and facilities to meet the needs and goals of any student; including a Haul system similar to a harness, which allows students with disabilities to climb the tower. Any Knight looking for a nontraditional workout can take a climb on the RWC’s 41-foot climbing tower.

Students can enjoy great summer programming at the towera staple of the facility since its inception in 2002. The tower offers students an opportunity to attempt different routes and skill levels, ranging from novice to the advance climber. There is a route for every student who wants to try!

This past spring, 45 Knights took part in the RWC’s annual Spring Climbing Competition. This annual event sees students competing individually for great prizes with some of the RWC’s great off-campus partners. The Spring Climbing Competition is organized like a card game; staff members give climbers a folder containing a random assortment of playing cards and each time a climber successfully ascends a route, that player chooses a card with the goal of assembling the best hand possible.

That’s just one example of the great RWC programming available to Knights all summer long. Now is a great time to get involved and join RWC’s Intramural Sports Rock Climbing league. The signup deadline is June 27 and the league runs from July 7 to July 29. All level climbers are invited. For out-of-competition-climbing, the tower is open Sunday through Thursday from 3pm7pm this summer.  You can even rent climbing shoes at the tower for free.

The RWC will see you this summer—remember to reach for new heights!
