We are excited to announce Dr. Falon Thacker as the new Associate Director of Residence Life and Education. Dr. Thacker’s first day in the office was June 28, 2019. As the Associate Director of Residence Life and Education, she will serve as a member of senior leadership and provide daily oversight and support to Assistant Directors who oversee residential communities. The Associate Director of Residence Life and Education attracted many competitive and qualified candidates. Below you will see a breakdown of the time and resources dedicated to this search. Dr. Thacker served as the Assistant Director for Residential Student Success and Retention at Georgia State University in downtown Atlanta. In addition to overseeing a first year residential area, she was also responsible for living learning communities, academic success/retention initiatives, first year experience, and was the chair of the professional staff search committee. Falon holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky, a master’s degree in Student Personnel in Higher Education from the University of Florida and a doctorate in Counseling and Student Personnel Services with a graduate certificate in diversity, equity and inclusion from the University of Georgia. Since leaving Florida after graduate school, she has dreamed of returning to Florida and is excited to join the team very soon!
