Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Tyler Walsh as the Director of the Center for Higher Education Innovation (CHEI).

Tyler is charged with elevating the impact and profile of CHEI and amplifying its role as an accelerator lab for student success and well-being at UCF and beyond. Tyler will provide leadership and project management for key strategic initiatives, collaborate with leading national partners, and support our collective efforts to provide the nation’s leading postsecondary student success ecosystem to our Knights.

“As a highly respected institution in the field of student success, I am humbled to be joining UCF and SSWB and honored to have the opportunity to continue the great work of the Center. I am eager to integrate into the larger Student Success and Well-Being team at UCF and support the continued success of retention, progression, and graduation initiatives.”

Before accepting this position, Tyler was a Senior Program Advisor at the National Institute for Student Success at Georgia State University. In this role, he developed and managed projects with dozens of colleges and universities across the nation as they sought to dismantle barriers to student success, improve student outcomes, and eliminate equity gaps. Tyler also conducted research for the NISS using Chatbots to improve course-level academic outcomes and will continue to pursue this research at UCF. He has experience in various student-support and teaching roles and these experiences inform and drive his passion for positively impacting students and the institutions that serve them.

Tyler is currently in the dissertation phase of his Doctorate in Political Theory at Georgia State University, writing on the rationale of student success within the larger purpose of higher education in America. He earned a master’s degree in both cultural anthropology and political theory from Georgia State University and holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Florida.

I encourage you to reach out to Tyler to discuss his vision for CHEI and how it can support your work and SSWB.

Join me in extending your best wishes and support to Tyler as he settles into this pivotal role within our Division as the Director of the Center for Higher Education Innovation.

Go Knights! Charge On!
