April 9th to April 13th #UCFInclusionWeek

This week is about spreading awareness on in inclusion for people with disabilities. The week will be filled with events to promote inclusion at UCF, as well as education on accessibility and advocacy.

Events:
Social Media Day [April 9th] – #UCFinclusionWeek a day to spread the message of inclusion on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to share stories about inclusion and what inclusion may mean to you. We will be sharing stories via a short video series and photo stories resembling Humans of New York.
*If you have a story to share feel free to reach out or check out our table that day by the Student Union.*

Movie Night [April 10th, 7PM] Have you ever noticed the misrepresentation of people with disabilities in the entertainment industry? Well, Diffability Hollywood is a documentary about the history of people with disabilities in the film industry, talks about the importance of properly portraying the disabled community, and advocates for more inclusion for writers, directors, and actors with disabilities. We are also excited to announce that Director Adrian Esposito an advocate himself will be skyping in to talk about his movie and do a Q and A. The movie night will be located at Northview at Hillel of Central Florida.

Teacher Lunch and Learn [April 12th, 11:30AM] A course on accessibility for teachers from a student perspective. A panel of students will offer a range of perspectives on their experiences with classroom accessibility. This session will be a great opportunity for faculty to learn more about what they can do to facilitate inclusive and accessible experiences for disabled students. Lunch is provided

*spots on the student panel are limited, but we are still looking for students who want to help educated faculty on accessibility*

Inclusion Shabbat [April 13th, 6PM] We are excited to end the week an Inclusion Shabbat at Hillel of Central Florida! Shabbat is the Jewish day of rest, and we will take some time to look at disabilities in Jewish scripture. If the religious aspect is not for you, feel free just to attend our 7PM free Shabbat dinner with your fellow UCF peers.

This event was made possible by winning a grant from the amazing #hillelinternational and #link20
